Scriptor

AI-powered speech-to-text mobile app

Role: Senior Product Designer · Platform: iOS / Android · Year: 2025

About

Scriptor is an AI-powered mobile transcription app for users who regularly work with voice content and need fast, reliable results on the go. Users can transcribe speech from YouTube, Dropbox, Google Drive, uploaded audio or video files, or microphone recordings.

The Challenge

The key challenge was to design flows that accommodated different user scenarios and monetization limitations. Another challenge was organizing a wide range of transcript features while keeping the screen clear, searchable, and easy to use. I also had to account for overlapping scenarios where features needed to stay synchronized.

Role & Responsibilities

As the only UX/UI designer, I was responsible for designing the complete mobile app experience, including all user flows, developer handoff, and ongoing implementation support.

Design Process & Approach

The design process went through several iterations of wireframes, prototypes, and polished high-resolution screens.

I studied documentation, researched competitors, created the information architecture, and started with UX flow prototyping.

UX Stage

Around three cycles of UX flows were prototyped, exploring different feature placements, resolving functional overlaps, planning space for future features, and building an interactive prototype to walk through different user flows.

UI Stage

After UX prototyping was finished, I started UI style research.
14 color palette variants were proposed.
During the UI process, I created a custom UI library with variables for light and dark modes, including colors, text styles, icons, and illustrations.

Localization & Dark Mode Testing

Then, I checked the interface for localization using German as an example. Since localization is planned in the future, it was important to ensure the interface adapts correctly and all text fits properly without issues.

Handoff & Development Support

Finally, the interface was fully documented and handed over to development.

During the development process, I supported developers and QA, answered questions, and participated in testing and polishing the application.

Outcome

As a result, a complete and well-structured interface was delivered and successfully implemented. The product supports multiple user scenarios, including free and pro accounts, error states, offline mode, dark mode, and future localization. The design system and documentation ensured a smooth handoff and efficient collaboration during development. I also prepared visual and design materials for publication in the App Store and Google Play.
